Ceiling Fan Installation & Repair in New Jersey

A ceiling fan is one of the most practical additions to any room—better air circulation in summer, heat distribution in winter, and lower energy bills year-round. But only if it's installed correctly.

Jay's Electric LLC handles ceiling fan projects throughout New Jersey. We install new fans, replace old or broken units, upgrade switches and controls, and fix wobbling, noisy, or non-functional fans. Every installation is wired to code, properly supported, and balanced.

Why Proper Installation Matters

Ceiling fans are heavier than standard light fixtures and spin at high speed. That means they need a rated electrical box, secure mounting, correct wiring, and proper clearance from blades to ceiling and floor.

We make sure your fan is:

  • Mounted to a fan-rated junction box that can handle the weight and vibration
  • Wired correctly for safe operation, including any wall switches or remotes
  • Balanced and secure so it runs quietly without wobble
  • Installed with proper clearance per manufacturer specs and building codes

If your ceiling doesn't have existing wiring, we'll run new circuits as needed. If the box isn't fan-rated, we'll replace it. No shortcuts.

What We Install

We work with all types of ceiling fans:

  • Standard indoor fans with or without light kits
  • Outdoor-rated fans for covered porches and patios
  • Low-profile hugger fans for rooms with low ceilings
  • Fans with remote controls, wall controls, or smart home integration
  • Energy-efficient DC motor fans

Bring your own fan or ask for recommendations. We'll confirm it's appropriate for the space and install it right.

Repairs & Upgrades

If you already have a ceiling fan that's acting up, we can troubleshoot and repair it. Common issues we fix:

  • Wobbling or shaking
  • Grinding, clicking, or humming noises
  • Fan won't turn on or responds intermittently
  • Light kit not working
  • Broken pull chains or switches
  • Remote control problems

We can also upgrade older fans with new wall controls, remotes, or smart switches for better convenience and control.

Our Process

Consultation: We assess the room, ceiling height, existing wiring, and your needs.

Preparation: If needed, we install a fan-rated box and run new wiring. We confirm the fan model is suitable for the location.

Installation: We mount the fan securely, wire it properly, attach blades, and test all functions including lights and controls.

Balancing & Testing: We balance the fan to eliminate wobble and verify quiet, smooth operation at all speeds.

Every job is left clean, safe, and code-compliant.

Common questions

Can you install a ceiling fan where there's currently just a light fixture?+

Yes. We'll verify the electrical box is fan-rated and replace it if necessary. If there's no wall switch, we can add one or install a remote control.

Do I need a permit to install a ceiling fan?+

It depends on the scope of work. If we're running new wiring or making significant electrical changes, a permit may be required. We handle that process and ensure the work meets NJ code.

How do I know if my ceiling can support a fan?+

We inspect the ceiling structure and electrical box during our assessment. Standard light fixture boxes are often not rated for fans. We'll install the correct support hardware if needed.
